The Nature Conservancy

Logo & brand identity redesign

This redesign is aimed at modernizing and expanding audiences for The Nature Conservancy. The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental organization working to combat the issue of climate change and biodiversity loss. The updated look and feel of this identity seek to improve their recognition by incoming generations to strengthen their support on global issues.

While maintaining a type-driven design, alterations have been made to improve the versatility and messaging of the logo.

The hummingbird icon is incorporated to symbolize TNC’s mission for change, and protection over our home. With such a large impact as a brand, this element acts as a stand alone symbol for TNC identity.

While globes and leaves do represent sustainability, they are also commonly used and fail to stand out amongst competing organizations. The hummingbird is rooted in the concept of longevity and protection, while also being a creature of the wild.

The Nature Conservancy is one of the oldest standing organizations, with a mission to protect for the future well-being of the planet- thus making it one in the same with it’s delicate hummingbird icon.

The typographic hierarchy is placed in a bold sans-serif to improve versatility and legibility across deliverables. The curves and soft edges allow for a credible, yet organic appearance. This is paired with a simple, and airy serif for informational contrast.
